Albert R. Atkinson, Jr. Post 210

DOYLESTOWN, PA

Albert R. Atkinson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert R. Atkinson served with Company G, 101 Infantry Division of the 28th Pennsylvania of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), referred to as the Bucket of Blood division. Albert served with his three (3) brothers Daniel, John, and George, who were members of the Doylestown Community. The war ended on November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th Month of the 11th day. Prior to the official ending of fighting, Sergeant Albert R. Atkinson, Jr. was killed on September 17, 1918, by machine gun bullets in Fismes, France. After temporary burial in France, he was buried in Doylestown Cemetery with other members of Company G.

To support and enhance the wellbeing of America’s Veterans and their families, our military and our local community by our devotion to mutual support.

Who We Are:

Our members have served in the United State Armed Services during peace time, Korea, The Cold War, Vietnam and the Global War on Terror. We are dedicated to supporting veterans and their families and our local community.

What We Do:

Each Memorial Day, members of American Legion Post 210 engage the Doylestown Community to assist in placing American Flags on the graves of our fallen heroes and teach our younger generation the importance of honoring our Veterans. Approximately 3,000 American Flags are placed on veteran graves across 23 cemeteries within the Doylestown and surrounding communities.

In addition, the Post strengthens our local community with local programs for our veterans, their families and provide support to local non-profit organization by providing a home where they can gather and meet. The following is a list of the local organizations supported by the Post:

Veterans Path of Honor

The Path of Honor is dedicated to all men and women who served honorable in defending the United States of America. The Doylestown Post 210 is excited to place these memorial bricks in the Path of Honor in the brick path that leads to the main entrance of the Legion Hall. This pathway is the place to visually remember and honor the service members who faithfully served their country.
